Gray skies got you down?

Seuss-cat-hatPut more color in your life with a trip to the library. When rain clouds and raindrops make the days feel boring or gray, I start dreaming of colorful illustrations and picture books. My favorite line from Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat says it best, “I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny.”butterfly

The Santa Clarita Public Library has some gorgeous picture books to brighten even the grayest day. I was charmed this week by Butterfly Butterfly: A Book of Colors by Petr Horacek.    As you read this book, you and your child will uncover a hidden green beetle,  a red ladybug and other colorful garden creatures.monstrously

“Not interested.” you say.  Okay, maybe you would get a kick out of learning to draw Monstrously Funny Cartoons. This book, by Christopher Hart, will have you giggling and drawing monsters in no time.

Perhaps you would prefer to sail away on the rainwater. In that case, check out Float floatby Daniel Miyares.  This wordless picture book shows the story of a boy who loses his paper boat in the rain.

Whatever you enjoy, we have a book for you. Come escape the rain and travel through the colorful and beautiful pages of the books in the Santa Clarita Public Library.
