“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it. ” Roald Dahl
Who Doesn’t love a Big Friendly Giant? The chance to win a chocolate factory? Discovering that you have magical powers? Roald Dahl’s works are filled with such whimsy and wonder you can’t help but be drawn into his worlds. And after all, who couldn’t use more silliness in their lives?
Whether you are enthralled by the Fantastic Mr. Fox or travel with James in his giant peach, there is a story and setting for every child to enjoy. Dahl writes exaggerated characters that entertain in delightful ways. His nasty characters are quite grotesque and his good characters full of virtue. Combined with fanciful plots, the stories are original, entertaining and charming.
You can check-out my current favorite, Vile Verses at the library as well as his other works.
Roald Dahl’s 100th Birthday is this September 13th, 2016. Keep an eye out for special events as the international celebration of Roald Dahl commences this fall.
