This week has not been an easy one for our community and some of you may have had to leave your homes behind in mandatory evacuations. Your children undoubtedly have questions about the fire, the smoke and how the many service men and women are helping keep our community as safe as possible.
We have books that explain what firefighters do and books that tell stories about firefighters. We have DVDs that feature the community helpers that are working to keep us safe. We also have a selection of materials that go over fire safety and what we can all do to prevent fires. Each of the titles shown link back to our online catalog and a search on similar topics. Sometimes reading a story about a person going through a similar situation helps with understanding what is going on.
The Library buildings themselves are a great place to come if you need a change of scenery and a reprieve from the hot, smoky air. We have activities scheduled everyday as we countdown the last week of our Summer Reading Program. You can take your mind off of the fire with family programs, books and DVDs. If you have lost power at home and need to access computers and printers, all libraries offer two hours of computer access each day and $1 worth of printing each day.
