Winter vacations is a great opportunity to have fun reading!
Here are some ideas, to promote a love of reading and learning with your child based on the article by Lidia Breiseth
Read Together: Read out loud together and talk about the book you read.
Find a good book and read it with your child.
After reading it, talk about it. Ask questions about the book. What was their favorite character, what was the main idea, what was the problem and how was everything solved. You can ask all these questions to see if they understood the story.
Tell stories about yourself or family traditions, your child will enjoying hearing them and learning about their heritage.
Buy books. Books are good items to buy and give as a gift during this season.
Visit places. If you are going to visit a place, get a map or a book about that place. You will find a lot of interesting facts about your destination.
During your trip, you can listen to audio books. The library has tons of audio books on CD and digital audio books.
Visit the library during this time, it is cozy and fun! Besides all the books, audio books, videos, magazines, we have a lot of programs for everyone.
